i have so much to get down but i think to get everything down i must do it in chunks...
tomorrow i'm going to write about my amazing week here when sean my company was here! :)
but for today's blog i wanted to give each city i visited an award or two.. :) i still can't pick a top pick because each city is unique in its own way... so here they are!
~budapest, hungary:
*most surprising city, i was very shocked at how beautiful the city was, how clean it was and how much there was to do in a city i didn't know anything about!
*this was also the cheapest city! we bought opera tickets for only $2!!! :)
*least crowded, nice to not fight people to see things or be places!
~vienna, austria:
*most ornate, the city was just beautiful all of the buildings were so gorgeous! every building was elegant and unique but in such a great way... i'm not sure the time period or style it was but i liked it...
*most fun shopping streets
~salzburg, austria:
*cutest small town, very easy to walk around to everything
*well this city just gets points for being the birth place of mozart and the location for the sound of music and boy do they capitalize on it... side note: not a huge fan of the mozart chocolate... stupid coconut!
~kufstein/monika's house/cant remember the exact town name! oops!, austria:
*most adventurous location... well for us on new years eve at least... story to follow in another blog!
*best cookies and most like home thanks monika's family!!! :)
~rome, italy:
*most surreal, i couldn't believe i was actually in the colloseum and at the vatican!
*best foods... but really who doesn't love pizza and gellato everyday!?!?
~amsterdam, nederlands:
*best for giggles.... just walking on the streets is just funny... to see very odd things lets say... and to walk past a shop selling pot seeds and then dirty things right next to it! just things i am just not used to seeing on the street! but then you see silly wooden shoes int the next shop!
*cutest waterways and canals!
~maastricht, nederlands:
*best commuting city for our day trips!
*cutest city center for small town!
~brussels, belgium:
*best chocolate!!!! neuhaus chocolate is the best chocolate i've ever had! and i know my chocolate!
*great day trip location!
*most odd famous landmark... see link! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manneken_Pis
~luxembourg city, luxembourg:
*best mix of old and new, the integration was great! the city was in the coolest teirs and sections with old fortress walls and buildings everywhere
*best preserved ruins... fortress from 923a.d. i think?
~paris, france:
*best famous sites... lourve, eiffel tower, arc de triumph, etc...
*craziest transportation... they had 19 subway/metro lines! just nuts!
*best lines in a big city... never too much waiting which rocked!
however there are some bad awards:
*rome had the worst people and the worst crowds! people were so rude! while standing in line for mass at the vatican there were about 20 people in the last 20 meters who cut in front of us... and they weren't just young people they were 80% (no offense!) grandmas and such... you would think they would know that Jesus doesn't like cutters!!!! i mean really? it wasn't necessary... the people in rome really distracted me from the experience but rome was still cool don't get me wrong i just wish people would've been better and more civilized!
*paris was the biggest problem causer of transporation problems... france requires seat reservations for all their trains and we had a few run ins with some awful people not helping us out the way they should've... we are sorry we don't speak french but we were polite and nice...
*ekreen, belgium, most dramatic experience... story later about the 26 hours of trains!!! and train doors and my hand!
but anyways here is a general overview... i'll write more tomorrow... it will take me awhile!
