i'm going to be honest... i had a lovely day... which is exactly what the doctor ordered after yesterday... :)
this morning i got to sleep till 8 and then take my precious time getting ready this morning... yay! i met up with i think their names are judith and christian (or something like it) they are the couple from germany... :) we first hopped on our bikes and decided to check out the language school... the website has been up but judith had been having troubles getting a hold of anyone... we rode through the shopping streets and up to the building... we saw some ladies out in front packing up some things... they informed us that they closed this school but that there is another danish school someplace else in the center of town... so we headed over there... we were informed that we need our cpr numbers/cards before we can sign up for classes... but at least i now know where it is! woooo!
next we headed to the farmer's market... it was a large street full of farmers with fruits, veggies, flowers, plants, cheese and fish... we walked all around but the german couple told me that the prices at the bazar they have in town were better so we didn't end up getting anything but it was nice to look... i really want a plant for my room and they did have some very nice ones but i couldn't decide on a type... there were so many!
we headed back to the dorm after that... i think i'm piecing together the city a little bit better each day... no great yet but not super lost at least in the center... :) they were going to go find a route to the university but i wanted to picnic in the park so we went our separate ways... i headed back into town to find a sandwich or some sort of picnic food because i did not have any... i ended back up at fotex because i knew they had a deli section... i went in and i saw some of the famous opened faced sandwiches... i thought that would be very danish of me... but i couldn't tell what was on the sandwiches as far as meat went... i'm very glad i asked the lady what was on them... because she said on the third sandwich there was octopus... ummmm yeah... no thanks.. (nej tak!) i found me a nice chicken and bacon sandwich instead (bacon and other pork products are denmark's number one export... every large market for them!)
after getting my picnic food i headed back to the park... hummmm it was such a nice day... not too hot not too cold... i sat under a willow tree with my blanket under me and my bike to the side of me and my picnic... hummmm so nice... the sound of rushing water... i watched the silly ducks chase after one another... it was
so nice... Bjørg called me to figure out a plan for the afternoon of turning in my lease... she ended up meeting me at the park to eat her lunch too! how nice... :)
after our picnic we headed out on our bikes for the place i was looking for yesterday... i think the route is imprinted in my mind... :) or at least i hope so! i got my
lease turned in yay! check mark for that!
next Bjørg asked me if i wanted to go to the fyn bazar with her... it is a place where many different cultural people (mostly of middle eastern countries) sell goods at very cheap prices... i said sure... why not... i needed something to do this afternoon...
we headed under the train tracks to this very large building where the bazar is inside... wow they had all sorts of different things... they had things from clothing, to luggage, to ethnic foods, to a food court area and then a market area... they had better looking veggies and fruit than the farmers market and cheaper too! yay! i ended up getting some potatoes, bell peppers, an onion, some broccoli and i don't remember what else... but it was exciting... i was wanting some good veggies!!! it was very fun to go to this strange bazar! :)
both Bjørg and i had way to many bags from the bazar... so we ended up walking our bikes to her house... once again i love her house... sooo cute... :) she said that she was having a friend over for dinner and tea and asked me to stay and join them... i was delighted to be invited to spend more time with danish people (side note: Bjørg was actually born on the faeroe islands but they are part of denmark so she was always a citizen but she and her family moved to denmark when she was 10 so she is both in my opinion danish and a faeroe islander) anyways... her friend was from a church group she belongs to... her name was christina... bless her heart her english is not as good ad Bjørg who studied and took special english classes for years... she tried very hard and we were able to talk quite a bit but i felt bad interrupting their dinner date...
we had tea and cream fluff filled chocolates (i forget the name)... and sat around and talked enjoying the afternoon and each other's company... we had a great time... at some point in the afternoon Bjørg 's neighbors came back to their apartment... i needed my steering wheel adjusted and we figured that these mormon (boys) missionaries would have the tools to help... we were in luck... funny thing yesterday Bjørg and her neighbors the male missionaries were talking and it was a great big circle of knowing the missionary women that stopped me in the park the other day... :) haha small world! anyways they helped me with my bike.. yay!
we had salad with all the fresh veggies from the bazar and what Bjørg called "steaks"... however in wyoming we would just call them hamburgers... but they tasted yummy... needed some nice protein i've been eating lots of bread and cheese since i've been here... i've been having a hard time balancing my diet but i'm working on it... it was such a lovely afternoon... i really enjoy Bjørg's company and her friend christina was a sweetheart! i feel like i actually have real friends because they want to hang out with me... she didn't have to help me past turning in my lease... how lucky i am!!! :)
