second attempt to tell of my day...
so i was able to get to my city and it is sooooo cute! i love it already (at least so far)... i live right next to a park with rivers and ponds and paths and it is a beautiful walk... my 'buddy' picked me up at the train station (thank goodness, she was a lifesaver) and because i had two 50lb bags we grabbed a bag and headed to my dormitory... it was such a pain because i was missing the magnetic key to get through the main entrance... but luckily another key worked out with a different door... i felt so badly because my room is up three flights of stairs and this poor little girl had to carry my bag all the way up... i told her to leave it down there and i'd make two trips but she just showed me up actually caring my suitcase up these stairs... it is very humid today because it wants to rain and i swear just in this one day between dealing with the humidity and all the physical walking and stairs even i'm not used to i'm sure i'm bound to be supermodel skinny in no time... ;) so my room is this cute but very small from what i'm used to... man i was spoiled... in my room i've got more furniture than space. I have a sink and mirror area as well as a closet... my bed is a couch by day and i'm not sure if it folds or if it gets bigger or wider or i just don't know... on the bottom there are two handles tucked under but i pulled and pulled and nothing happened so i'm not sure... but it will be just fine... i am very lucky and i get two huge windows in my room that give me an amazing view!!! there is a 'football' field outside and wonderful kind of downtown buildings after that... i will say it is soooo cute and quaint... i love it... much greener than Wyoming... (thank goodness!) after we lugged my things up the stairs and found my room we decided to hook up my internet... i wasn't thinking and didn't bring an Ethernet cord so we went off to the shopping streets... it is so quick and easy... i just go through the park and up a block and bam shopping... the streets are so cute all in stone and such... ***fun fact of the day: the signs that light up when to cross a crosswalk are actually small outlines of a man that light up in either green for the walking man or red for the stopped man... the fun part is that this man is the big man himself Hans Christian Andersen the famous children's book author of such tales as the little mermaid and the ugly duckling... H.C. as they call him lived here and is the hometown hero they love and remember in many of the things they have around the city... i can take a boat ride down the river in a pedal boat that looks like a swan (after the ugly duckling)... :) **** we picked up an Ethernet cord and then stopped at a grocery store to grab some food... i ended up just getting a few things to keep me tied down until i figured out a bit more... i got some instant coffee to help with the jetlag as well as some bread, crackers, cheese and some sort of fruit...i think they are a mix between a peach and a plum maybe? i don't know they have a hard skin rather than a soft fuzzy one... i don't like fruit but it was cheap and will be easy to keep around... and it couldn't hurt me to eat healthy for once... i am glad i had a buddy because i didn't know that here you pay for your own plastic bags... you just don't get them with your purchase... i should've brought over one of my larger tote bags~ ;) haha.... after we grabbed some of the food we headed back to my room and did not have the right key to get into the kitchen, it requires a small magnetic key that they did not give to us in the packet...it really just must be my day but just then we saw a guy in the hallway... we went and asked him about the key... he and his girlfriend are from Germany they explained that they did not have the magnetic key either but that they were going to go get them just that afternoon! as i waited for them to be ready to go i tried to set up my internet but i did not have the right program and it would not let me get to the download site i needed... i heard a knock on the door it was the two very nice German students saying that the office where the keys are was closing at noon rather than 3 as they first thought... so we hurried to the office... this is where Trine left me since i had someone else who knew how to get to the office... i was even luckier to meet these people! and they had a car which was very nice because the office is so far away from our dorm... i need to get a bike asap but that will come around soon... there are bikes EVERYWHERE! we got to the office and got our silly magnetic keys... then zoomed back through the tiny streets to the dorm... while we were there we picked up another girl who lives across the hall from my room... i can't remember her name or her country i am so terrible but the Germans had met her yesterday so i've already met 4 new people! It doesn't make me feel so bad when they also have a hard time speaking Danish! Thank goodness everyone speaks in English here. But i've really got to work on learning some more words like the names of numbers and such so i don't like a complete idiot... after getting back they helped me set up my internet... thank goodness for usb sticks! they got the program form their computers and downloaded on to mine so now i've got the internet!!! thank goodness i need to let everyone know i'm safe... :) I fell asleep after sending a few emails out i took a quick nap... i woke up to a knock on the door... the people i had just met were going out to the "cinema" lol they asked me to go but i am so jetlagged that i think staying in and unpacking would be the way to go tonight... plus i know i'll fall asleep early... one of my friends told me to stay up till at least 7 so that i could start working on the jetlag... so that is the plan... i am going to start unpacking more and organizing this room of mine... ! this was just what the doctor ordered... i was soooo burnt out on everything with school and work back home but i feel ready to learn new things and try everything!!! :) so here goes nothing... FAVEL! (goodbye!)
