so i'm not going to lie... i miss normal showers ha ha... the showers here are ok but they are the ones where you hold the shower head... there is a place where you can set the handle into that fits like a normal american shower but it doesn't looks so stable... all i can see is the movie scenes (example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1aKG8D7aXs4 go to minute 2:30 for the scene) where the person basically becomes attacked by the shower head as it flies around! so i think i figure out a way to not let it spray me when i set it down but i don't think i'll let it be above me without one of my hands holding it... :) i got my room finally cleaned up except for the few items i'm just not sure where to put... but really i don't have that much... but that is good... less clean up time! :)
on my way down the hallway i met this rather frazzled boy named Thomas who had apparently just gotten in late last night and needed to find out if any of the stores where open and where they were at… i told them that i didn’t think any of them opened until 10 but i told him where to go… he was going to try it… i felt bad i couldn’t be more helpful i’m got lucky having someone to at least show me where a few things where yesterday! so i'm meeting with my actually 'buddy' from the university tomorrow her name is Bjørg... she has been on "holiday" in rome and getting back tonight... so i was on my own today... i was feeling a little down this morning but i decided i needed to get out and that would make me feel better... i needed to mess with my rent and deposit so i thought i'd head to a bank... they gave me this slip in danish and the only think i can read is bank so that is where i need to go... ha ha... when i got to a bank on the shopping streets where Trine and i went yesterday i couldn't read the signs but i thought it was probably closed... i tried the tinted doors anyways and i'm sure i looked like an idiot!!! ha ha... oh well...

***to do list: learn days of the week!*** might be handy! i texted Trine and asked her if the banks were closed all weekend and indeed they are... so project for monday... it can wait till then and then maybe Bjørg can help me out... so after being rejected by the bank i decided to just walk around some of the shopping street and grab some food! :) i ended up finding a place that looked cute it wasn't danish food though... it was a mix of american and greek food but i can dig it! so i ended up getting some sort of flat bread wrap with tomato, lettuce, lots of feta and some dressing... it was scrumptious! They also seemed to have some funny sodas but i didn’t try them yet… don’t think the orange juice i had could do me wrong… :)
so after eating some food i decided just to keep wandering north on this street see what i could find... i found lots of clothing and shoe stores but didn't want to go in quite yet i was fine just strolling down the street looking at everything... the street kept going and i knew i wanted to get to the bigger grocery store to pick up a few things i didn't yesterday so i headed down a side street to the west because i knew i wanted to get that way eventually... i ended looping back to the main street i knew because there weren't very many shops or people so i thought it might be safer... so Trine told me that if i followed the main shopping street that i would run into another street with a similar name... ha ha i ran right into the store i needed to the store Føtex. At Føtex was much bigger than the first grocery store but also had clothing, personal items, electronics, etc, etc like a normal american target or walmart... but a large food section which was good for me...
it took me at least an hour to walk around and try to decipher what the labels and signs said... i looked at jelly for at least 10 min trying to figure out what fruits the contained... ha ha at least most of the labels had pictures!!! thank goodness for pictures!!! i ended up finding some grape (i think) jelly, some spaghetti and rigatoni noodles, along with some sort of tomato sauce... good thing i'm not allergic to anything! then i found some grapes but i couldn't read which sign went with the green grapes and which sign went with the red ones so i'm not sure how much i paid but it was only a difference of 2 kroner so i wasn't worried... only confused... i wandered around to the milk section and boy was i lost... i found a carton with a cow on it ha ha and that was what i went for not sure what kind of percent it turned out to be but we will find out! i also found some eggs but they come in 8 or 10 not 6 or 12 so that was freaky... i moved down to the cheese and stood there for a good few minutes trying to figure out what i wanted... i ended up getting some already shredded mozzarella cheese because you can use it for anything... i also needed some hand soap so i went and tried to find that... i think i got the right stuff it looks like hand soap and the words on the sign looked like that is what it meant... i realize while getting soap that i should probably put some meat into my diet... can't have myself getting sick... so there were 6 or 7 large short freezer rows so i wandered down them all guessing what the heck was in those packages... i could figure out most because i like to cook but others were a mystery... i circled around and around... luckily i found where they kept the chicken... chicken is safe or at least i know what it looks like! i saw that there was something on sale by these large yellow stickers but i couldn't figure out which packages they were so i broke down and asked a sales guy where they were... he told me they were out... darn! oh well at least my assumptions about the yellow signs were correct! when i passed by the chicken freezer a smell i hadn't smelt for years arose... ick it smelt like when i was little and my mom and grandma would cut up their own chickens!!! i looked to my right and there they were probably 25 chicken necks stinking it up! gross!!!! i didn't need to see that but i guess it could've been worse... :) i found some regular chicken (which meat is expensive!) and then some salami (i knew that word)...
*** shopping side note of fun: both of the grocery stores i've been in have these adorable little baskets with wheels on the bottom and the great part is that handles fold up into a wagon like shopping cart but made from this plastic shopping basket... here is a picture for your enjoyment that shows them sort of but not exactly like the ones i've seen... they are soooooo cute!!!! and i haven't run into anybody with it yet!!!****
so i got everything to the check out and i felt bad because one of the girls who was in charge of bagging up things kept trying to talk to me in danish asking if i wanted help bagging my things... as soon as i realized she was talking to me i said "english" and then she explained that she was trying to bag my things... i told her i could do it and she went on her way... the girl at the register (and yes gordo you would like being a checker here they sit on rolly chairs and don't have to do anything special) she tried to say the amount i needed in english but had some problems i felt bad... i could see the total so it wasn't a big deal at all! but she said "i tried" i understand that! :)
i'm not going to lie i somehow figured out what i needed and got out without any major problems... huge accomplishment... i walked back to my dorm but there was one really funny thing i saw when i was walking down the shopping street... i passed a lingerie store and then a store down there was a baby store with strollers and such!!! ha ha!!! the irony made me laugh... at least once you make the baby it is easy to find the stuff to take care of them with!
as i walked back to my dorm through the park there were at least 20 picnics going on in the park... if i didn't have so many items that needed to go in the fridge i would've stopped and sat a while in the sun... here are some pictures of the park path i've been taking... how beautiful!!! :) hummmm green and lovely and water... i don't miss the dry brown wyoming countryside at all, however the people are a different story i do miss them...
i got back and had to take a nap after putting everything away... i am more jetlagged than i'd like to be... i was awoke by a message from one of my favorite wyoming people and was
delighted that we finally got to talk... the time difference is hard that way...
after messing around in my room about 5pm i decided i'd go fix myself up some eggs that was easy enough... so i went down to the kitchen and started fixing my eggs... i had forgot butter... oops... sticky pan... oh well i just had to be careful and grab it later... while fixing my scrambled eggs (with cheese!) another boy came in... he asked me what i was making... we started talking and he said that i spoke very good english but that i spoke it too fast... oops! he was from Lithuania i didn't catch his name but
i'm sure i'll see him around again... he was very good about asking questions about what is going on in the US and he knew about the denver nuggets and tried to pronounce a player’s name but it was no good to me since i know nobody on the team except carmelo anthony (but only because of the candy bar!) we talked politics and tried to talk slower and with better words that could be understood by a less fluent english speaker... it was cool to try to do... but it was soooo hard for me to slow down! i have to remember that english is their second language and they are very good at it and i am lame and only speak one
language... oh well it was fun to have someone new to talk to...
so after a few texts with Bjørg we decided to meet at 9:30 tomorrow morning... sounds good to me not too early but still able to get a good day in! i haven't been to campus yet and maybe tomorrow will be the day... it is hard because the campus is an hour away walking distance... i know that there are busses but i really need a bike... i hope she can help me find a used one or i heard that they have police auctions of bikes because they are freaking everywhere... the streets are lined and there are a million people out on them...

oh my gosh...how are you doing this...i think i would have sat down in the middle of the supermarket and cried...not being able to understand what the signs are saying and people not being able to speak english all that well...i'm truly amazed, you are way more independent and adventurous than i am...way to go!!!! :)
