so our first full day on our vacation! we got up and headed out to start

our day... we walked to st. michaelis church one of the big landmarks in hamburg. we went up into the tower where we were able to get amazing photo's of the city!

(you can see the great statue that was at the entrance of the church... nothing like an old statute of an angel slaying the devil with a cross! soooo cool!)

we then walked and found a cute little place for lunch it was called "neat's" and it served curries

and salad... we figured it would be different and fun... it totally was! i had some sort of carrot/curry soup it was soooo different... :)

after some yummy lunch we headed down to the miniatur wunderland

(miniature museum -- www.miniatur-wunderland.de ) which is the largest model railroad... so the following places were part of the 3 floors of the mini railroad set: Austria, Switzerland, Germany (cities: Knuffingen, Harz, Hamburg), America and Scandinavia. after the museum we headed to find some more landmark buildings.... during our little walk we discovered that there were these escalators that go both ways! whoever gets to the weight sensors first makes the escalator go down or up depending on the way you would need to go.... and i love escalators... and love these twice as much! :)

after walking around some more we found the shopping streets... as i said before in my other blogs i brought a pair of shoes that was supposed to be great walking shoes but they ended up giving me terrible pain in london so i needed another pair of shoes... i ended up finding a great pair of boots (that i was so grateful to have later in the week when it started snowing!!!) it was frustrated though because when i went to check out i used my card that is signed with my name and also says "see id" so that they check my id... apparently the person i had checking me out didn't know english and made me write my name followed by see id! so that was something i didn't expect... had there not be a huge line behind me it would've been better but something i learned...

while walking around we saw several street performers and a few stands selling "curry-(brat)wurst".... we didn't end up eating it but it seemed to be very popular... we ended seeing the grand and absolutely beautiful town hall.... ai place for dinner... they specialized in very "natural" cooking and healthy eating... it was yummy except for the water... it was soooooooo icky! i don't know what the deal was... i was like oh yay bottled water and then it was sooooo sooooo gross! can't even explain the grossness... couldn't pin point it at all either which sucked... soooo be warned to stay away from "settler's" water in germany... it is weird.

after dinner we headed back to the hostel we had a nice early sleep we had to head out the next morning at 7am so i needed my beauty sleep!
